All About The Dogs

In the spring of 2009 I started thinking about how much I wanted a puppy. My family had a few different dogs when I was younger and I really missed having a loyal companion around. I was torn between a few different breeds but eventually went for a Shiba Inu.

From the very start Jack was a pain in my behind. I had to work the night I brought him home so my good friend dog-sat him. However, Jack refused to leave his kennel the entire night, even once I came home! He quickly warmed up to me, though. Stubborn and independent as Shiba Inus may be they are very bonded to their owners. Jack is a huge momma's boy and would do anything to protect me.
He's a peanut butter fiend.
And has also destroyed a few pairs of shoes! Just last week I caught him eating sneakers.
In April of 2010 my boyfriend Xavier also got the itch for a furry companion. After contemplating a few different breeds he ended up getting Maya the Bullmastiff. When we got her she was just 10 lbs!

Maya grew up quick. I think she outgrew her first collar within two months. Just like Jack she's always been a fan of chewing on things she's not supposed to. She's eaten the couch cushions for the sun room and all the toys (and blanket!) we left when she was boarded during our vacation. She's also known to grab food if it's left unattended for even a split second. The food can even be in your hand! She'll steal it if you're not vigilant. We think Maya is full grown (she is one year old now) though she is quite small for her breed and age.

Maya and Jack love each other. They're always play fighting, though sometimes Jack gets a little worked up! At the end of the day they're best friends and will cuddle up together.

I'll add new pictures of the dogs down here whenever they sit still long enough for a cute one!

Jack loves squirrels--stuffed or  real!
